Cinder and Black by Maxx Victor, Maxx Victor
Did not finish book. Stopped at 76%.
Cinderella/Romeo and Juliet young adult retelling with a nephilim and a lycan.
The book really needs editing. The changes in point of view are startling with no paragraph breaks, let alone chapter breaks.
On page five, it reads like a fade to black rape scene. Especially with the synopsis saying that Cinder has an abusive mother. If the author did not intend for the scene to appear to be a human trafficking situation, then he really needs to amend it.
I stopped reading on page 179 (3/4) because I cannot keep reading about how much she isn't like the other girls. Cinder wears borrowed clothes and gets dirty cleaning stables. She doesn't wear make up. She does eat like a "girl" though (hardly anything)
