Whoo boy! Maybe I should stop going in blind on books. I had no idea this would end on a cliffy. That’s ok though. I feel like I used to feel as a kid watching Dynasty and it would end on a cliffhanger. Plus, this book has that soapy feel too. Like a Dynasty, but the dynasty is an enclave of grifters.

Phoebe and her bestie, Hailey, are the lone daughters in their con artist families and they want out. They want to live a con-free life in the small Connecticut town that Hailey picked out. One problem: their families aren’t going to let them go so easily. So they aren’t going to tell them.

They aren’t even close to the town when Hailey’s older brother, Rocky, finds them. He tries to convince them to come back to the fold, but they resist. He says fine- they can go, but he’s coming with them. Gosh, I wonder why he’s so concerned.

Weeeellll, Hailey and Rocky have been pushed together on jobs so many times and the love and attraction are there, but they’ve never wanted it to feel like part of the act. They made a deal two years earlier that they’d never be together for real.

This is a slow burn kinda friends kinda enemies to lovers with a whole lot of tangled webs that only get tanglier by the end. Good lord, this was a compelling story and now I am *so* ready to know the rest.

The narration is top tier with @carlyrobinsnarrator and @aaronshedlock at the mic. These two are reliably perfect every time.
