i would have dnfed this at twenty percent in but my stubbornness refused, which got me to where i am now: a low rating and a burning frustration.

my biggest gripe with this book is that it’s just one giant trope. all of the characters can be categorized into archetypes, the plot isn’t at all original and the magic is basically avatar the last airbender. it’s boring.

also, i’m not sure if i was supposed to read “air awakens” before this but nothing is fleshed out. i still don’t understand anything about meru or the country eira lives in; nothing is ever explained (though i have no doubt it’s just some fantasy bullshit).
