I wasn’t sure about this book because most of it is a retelling of the first book but from Casteel‘s POV and it felt pointless especially when I just wanted the story to move forward, but I honestly loved it. I really liked returning to the simpler times and seeing everything from his perspective.

But if that’s not your thing, then you can basically just read the chapters titled present to be sure that you’re up-to-date with what’s going on before the next book.
