The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende

5.0

Beautiful writing, an epic multi-generational story that weaves the rights and wrongs of the cast of characters across decades and through political revolution and dictatorship in Chile with a little bit of spiritual/other worldliness thrown in. The characters are so dynamic that I HAD TO KNOW what was going to happen next. After I finished reading, I read up on the Chilean dictatorship and ‘the disappeared.’
