I didn't connect with the characters. I also did 't like the mentality that "well, men are sometimes mean to the ones they like and you need to work hard to get his attention," especially when Mo didn't want Cooper's attention. 

Also, I felt the assault scene was so unnecessary. Although the author tried to show how the fear from that experience impacted other areas of Mo's life, a survivor of assault would definitely NOT be kissing another man in the same alley a few weeks later.
