Delicate Escape by Catherine Cowles

5.0

This is an infinity rating for me!

Catherine has done it again! Shep and Thea’s story was one that was beautiful and will truly stick with you.

There is so much I want to say about this book but I really just think everyone should read this book….really this whole series. The Colson family is so different from her other book families and they are honestly my new favorite. Lolli truly brings the humor and lightheartedness to these books and I love it so much!

I loved the relationship with Thea and Shep and how it was built on trust. Shep knew exactly what Thea needed and respected her boundaries and her lead. Shep went on Theas timeline and for them it was perfect. Thea let Shep in and it was so beautiful to see these two grow and help heal each other in ways that no one else would be able to. Shep is many things and this man showing how he cares was through his acts of service. The fast food scene was adorable and when she cooks for him you can just feel how much they felt for each other and appreciated the other.

Let me say that Catherine’s books are typically not on the high spice scale and that is ok! There doesn’t need to be spice in every book. However, with that said when the spice does hit her books it is executed perfectly! Shep and Thea’s chemistry was hot..the way Thea is confident around Shep and wants to try new things with him (hello book reenactment scene!) there are no words.

I really have so much more I want to say about this book but again just go read it you won’t regret it!

Thank you so much Catherine for the ARC of this book.

Some Quotes I loved:
"You're a good human, Thea." Rhodes came back into focus in front of me, and I shook my head. "I'm a mess." She grinned. "All the best people are."

"Why are you putting up with me?" "Because everything about you screams that you've been fighting alone for too damn long, Thorn. You need someone to help carry the weight for a little while. I might not be able to fix everything, but I can help carry the load."

"We all do what we have to do to make it through. I'm never going to judge you for what you need to feel safe."

"You're worthy, Shepard Colson. You don't have to fix anything to be that. You don't have to dig a million trenches or replace feet of corroded piping. You're worthy just for who you are."

"It's not funny. I climbed you like some sort of spider monkey. I attacked your mouth." I couldn't help it, I laughed. "And I hope you do it again."

"That blush. Killing me, Thorn. I want to trace it with my tongue."

"You needed a greenhouse to make our home perfect." "Greenhouse?" I choked out, tears slipping from my eyes and sliding down my cheeks. "This is a plant mansion."
