The Flowered Blade by Taylor Hubbard

5.0

It was such a perfect read. I don't think there are enough words in the English language to describe this book, but I'll try. It combines a lot of different things together, but ultimately it worked perfectly. It's a fantasy romance with a love story between an autistic transmasc elf who is captured by a grumpy and buff orc.

Silvyr has my heart. An autistic character who didn't feel like a trope, but a truly multifaceted human being. There is something healing about reading about other autistic people finding their happiness. I felt emotional reading very simple scenes in which Silvyr was slowly but surely changing his life for the better.

Despite having some tough themes, I would describe a large portion of the book as cozy fantasy. When they arrived at the orcs' town, they spent their days leisurely, but it was never boring.

What surprised me the most was noticing how long the book was. It constantly kept my attention. Reading the epilogue, I realized that I could have still read more.

I received a copy of this book from the author, and this is my honest review.
