The Whispers by Ashley Audrain
4.0
*****trigger warnings that may be spoilery for some.
Contemporary fiction with some aspects that are thrilling and complex. Very dark read - lots of trigger warnings for infidelity, infertility, child abuse…not a book for everyone for sure.
Good character development, though the male characters were mostly superficial. There were a lot of characters though, so it’s hard to develop all of them in a short novel. The way the women were developed was most necessary to the plot, and I appreciated the uniqueness of each of their stories and perspectives.
I love the ending line - maybe one of the best last lines in a book I’ve read in years.
