My Twenty Second Winter by Alicja Agnieszka Naskret

emotional hopeful reflective sad medium-paced

5.0

As someone who lost her grandmother - her Nanny - a few years ago, I felt so much of Alicja’s pain, grief, and growth. It’s crazy to be on the outside of this kind of thing, relating to it, and seeing that growth…knowing it probably looked like that to others I know.

As far as the poetry goes, Alicja has a wonderful style that excels at creating vivid scenes and bringing out emotions at the same time. Sharing her personal journey like this was an excellent choice for her debut poetry book and I’m interested to read more of what she puts out!
