I read this in one day. It was so good! I loved the characters and how real this book felt. It was heartfelt and comforting even if there was a decent amount of hurt mixed in there too. The friendships felt comforting like a found family trope and even the teachers were lovely.
This book dealt with some darker topics such as the struggles with mental health and SH with the main character and a few background characters; it was all written really well and it was honestly so nice to see the character development by the end of the book. It felt honest, emotionally raw and a bit brutal but the empathy shown was so powerful and wholesome.
And the romance was really good too. Alis learning to let others in was a bit of a slow burn process and I loved it dearly.
A big thank you to the author and Pride Book Tours over on Instagram for this copy in exchange for an honest review.
