The Appeal by Janice Hallett
4.0
I'm giving it four stars for the sheer fun on the first half of the book, the pre-death part. The collection of emails, letters and articles were so well-done. Each character with their own voice and lots of laughs in seeing very relatable situations and relationships.
The bigwig at the law firm testing his young employees is the big drag. It reminded me of reading the Magic Treehouse books to my kid. I'd get annoyed that some wizard or something like that would tell the kids they had to go find four magic stones from four places to make an x to unlock some secret prize. It always just begged the question, if you know so much about this, why aren't you doing the sleuthing/actions? Especially when revealing things he knows way after the fact the employees (and us) do.
But Joyce Walford's emails were 4 star hilarious.
