A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole

5.0

I had heard this book was hilarious so I thought I'd give it a try. I wasn't sure what to expect but the first time I tried to read it about a year ago I put it down, because it just wasn't for me. Since then I read catch-22 which is now one of my favourite comedies, and thought I'give Dunces another go. It might have just been a mind set thing, or getting used to the NO accents and dialect, but I loved the book, it's tragic, endearing, enraging and hilarious. there are so many moments in the book that are just great comedy, and two scenes which made me spit my drink. [one of which was when Ignatius meets Dorian in the Alley way] All in all it's a great book, for me catch-22 was funnier, but that's only because I adore the word play by Heller. Dunces is a close second though.

Ignatius is truly so many people that I know.
