I Wish You Were Mine by Jessica Peterson
5.0
This is my first book by Jessica Peterson and it will not be my last book.
I don't know where to start with this review.
Maren's character is very relatable. She is in college working to complete her masters degree, but of course she is struggling with school and being motivated to continue on the career path she has chosen (or was pushed towards by her family). She has the opportunity to nanny for Tuck living rent free in his guest house she jumps at the opportunity.
Tuck is a grumpy, tattooed single dad who loves his daughter above everything. He works hard to provide a life for his daughter. However, he can't do everything he needs for her so he set out to find a nanny for Katie. Tuck then meets Maren aka "summer girl". He can't deny the attraction that he feels to her but knows they should only keep their relationship professional. But he can't resist her for one night.
I loved Tuck and Maren's characters. Both were very raw and realistic. They both suffer from anxiety and I appreciate the author showcasing how anxiety looks different in everyone. I especially loved seeing a MMC who has anxiety because that is not talked about enough. Maren's relationship with Tucks daughter Katie is so genuine. The way Maren treats Katie is as if Katie was her biological daughter. The pregnancy complications Maren had were realistic and scary and while you get upset with Tuck for what he does you have to put yourself in his shoes as well and understand his past and his anxiety.
If I could give this book 100 stars I would! Thank you so much to Jessica Peterson and Valentine PR for the ARC.
