Pilgrimage: The Great Pilgrim Routes of Britain and Europe by Derry Brabbs

5.0

Ah this book was enchanting. Yes it's about 3/4 photographs from around some of the most pilgrimage routes in Europe, but it was so beautiful. The medievals buildings, the solemn and gorgeous churches that have survived through the centuries. It made me long for travel again, to see such wondrous places in person again. It really does create a sense of wonder, belief, and awe to look at these places that have been made and touched by human hands for almost a thousand years. I loved the bits of history added in, the architectural facts, the important people who were crowned or killed at these places imbuing them with importance and memory. Some day I will walk these routes and feel the ground underfoot and the roughness of the stone too. It'll happen.
