The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

5.0

This was a re read..or rather a re, re, re, re read. I have read this book many times, but my last read was quite a few years ago. The first time I read it was when I was sixteen, sitting in a beautiful garden on a very hot summer day (1978), watching ‘moths among the whisperings’ and there couldn’t have been a more perfect book then...or now. I was tempted to pick it up again because I needed to read old favourites during the CV lockdown. There is nothing I can say that hasn’t already been said about this. I just truly love it. Very very much. I had forgotten how good it is.

The words are breathtaking....the images are real in my head. I absolutely adore it. When I finished it today i had to sit a while and hold my heart steady.
