Dream Girl Drama by Tessa Bailey
5.0
Well well well. @tessabaileyisanauthor has written the yearn-iest book I think I’ve ever read.
Hockey star Sig Gauthier is on his way to meet his father’s new girlfriend when his dilapidated truck breaks down outside a ritzy country club. He’s not a member, of course, so he’s not getting any help until the girl of his dreams comes over to rescue him. She’s beautiful and funny and their chemistry is burning bright. They spend some time together talking and enjoying the hell out of one steamy kiss. But they both have places to be. Their story is to be continued.
Sig shows up at the fancy house of Sofia Clifford, Dad’s girlfriend, and who is there playing the harp like the angel she is? His dream girl, Chloe Clifford.
And their night is about to get worse. Her mom and his dad announce they’re engaged. Oh fuuuuu. That’s not going to work for these burgeoning lovers.
Chloe had told him earlier she wants to study at Berklee in Boston where he lives and plays hockey for the Boston Bearcats. During dinner he convinces Chloe he can help her set up her new life in Boston and away they go.
They also know that unless their parents break up there’s no way they can be together without major scandal. So, they’re best friends who *long* for each other. They’re both down bad, but Sig is beyond.
I loved them becoming so close and knowing everything about each other. Their intimacy and care for each other is incredibly heartwarming and you just about want to cry over their circumstances.
Tessa is an auto-read author for me and that doesn’t appear to be changing any time soon.
I received this eARC via #netgalley and @Avonbooks and @HarperVoyagerUS. All thoughts are mine alone.
