First read this in 2023. Listened to the audiobook now in 2924 and honestly I think I liked it better a second time around. Nesta is such a misunderstood character and I really loved her growth in this book. Even more, I loved the portal of trauma and how it impacts everyone differently. We talk about some trauma responses but there are some that are deemed as being more socially appropriate. However, the way her trauma was manifesting, society would deem this less socially acceptable and pathologies normal reactions to things you should’ve never seen or experienced. My respect for Nedra and love for her character and story only grew with this reread!
