I expected to enjoy this book, but I did not expect it to completely consume my soul and destroy me.
This book follows Iris and Roman, two journalist competing for the columns position at the Oath Gazette. Currently, there is a war between to Gods going on and Iris’s brother enlists to be a part of the war. Iris is stuck at home, trying to make ends meet.
This book is a little bit of a quiet story. There’s not much action going on throughout the story, and at times the book can feel slow. However, the characters felt so real, and I loved the banter between them, the dialogue and how their romance progressed.
I would have liked to see more world building and lore in the beginning of the book. At times, I felt confused and had a lot of questions regarding the war and the Gods. Although we did get some answers, I would’ve liked a little more.
Nonetheless, this book had me in a chokehold. My heart was constantly pounding, I loved the romantic moments between the characters, and the writing style is so beautiful and unique. I was completely enthralled. The ending completely destroyed me and I have no idea I’m going to wait for the next book.
