This is the strangest, most unsettling book I've ever read.

First of all, I'm not going to pretend like I liked Kaori. I didn't. I thought she was annoying and it served her right for complaining like she did about literally every little thing and screaming even though she must have known screaming was just going to make things worse. The girl talked in all caps, all the time.

The artwork was gruesome and disturbing, but I couldn't look away. I devoured this book, both because it was gruesome and disturbing, and because it was such a new and creative story that I couldn't wait to get to the end to see what happened.

Junji Ito really is a master artist of horror and the uncomfortable.
