Six More Months of June by Daisy Garrison

4.0

This book is incredibly touching and also funny. I love a realistic young adult book. I know everyone has different high school experience, but this one felt so genuine to me.

Mina, Caplan, Hollis, and Quinn are all in the last few weeks of their senior year. Mina and Caplan have been besties forever. Caplan’s on again, off again girlfriend, Hollis, has always harbored some resentment about this. When Quinn, his best guy friend, asks if Caplan minds if he asks Mina out, Caplan has to sort through his feelings. This is never an easy task for a teenager.

I reiterate that i love a realistic book about high school students. Are some people having sex while others aren’t? Yes. Are some people hanging out with their bestie and getting high? Yes. Are there parties where you play dumbass drinking games? Yes. Are there friends that you’ve pined for, but never admitted? Yes! For me those days were a long time ago, but I can still reach into my memories and I’m right back there.

These last few weeks of their high school experience are fraught with relationship issues, college decisions, long term grief, and heretofore unacknowledged feelings. You’ll grow to love these characters and want them to make good choices.
