Ten Days in a Mad-House by Nellie Bly

5.0

I was recently held on a voluntary 50150, three day evaluation period because I worried about my mental health after an altercation with family. While in the facility, I saw some horrific things and by reading this I felt some solidarity with the author. Even though I was only in one facility, the one I was in I can report while it had better food, the incompetence of the employee was astounding.

Not only did they assault a patient in front of me, they had the audacity to blame it on me, a pacifist who cries if she accidentally crushed a snail. It has opened my eyes to the fact that things have not changed much in mental health facilities and that we still have vengeful nurses, techs, and doctors.

This account is a timeless classic that should not be overlooked. What a brave and genuine journalist!
