𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝, 𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥-𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐝, 𝐫𝐞𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐰 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧.
Can this be read as a standalone? Yes. This is the first book in the trilogy that I have picked up. I did feel a bit lost with some of the history, but I still enjoyed this story. Please check trigger warnings for this one. It's a tough, emotional ride.

My heart broke for Lauren and Mitch. So many mistakes from both sides. Poor communication, and ever more poor decisions. A marraige in shambles, can they move past everything? Does loving someone truly mean you can fix what is broken? This story would be best to go into with an open mind.
𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭, 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬.
I really enjoyed the family and how they were very honest with both of the MCs. This story had me bawling for so much of it. It's a very realistic and sad story of miscommunication and the breaking down of a relationship. There is a part with Mitch, and another character. That didn't sit that well with me, but I can understand both sides. As I said, you definitely need an open mind for this story.
