The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley

2.5

I wanted to like this, because it's been a while since I got into a nice mystery thriller.

Unfortunately it immediately got off to a poor start when the opening chapters were flitting between character perspectives every 1 or 2 pages, meaning it was near-impossible to really get a sense of any characters. Add to that the fact it was written in such a way that was obviously trying to maintain mystery but just meant the characters were speaking in unrealistic elusive ways, hinting at things without ever saying what they really meant.

Things started to pick up a little about 100 pages in (far too late!) but then unfortunately by the time we got to any big reveals or epiphanies, it was just bleak and underwhelming and just overall not particularly enjoyable!
