What You Are Looking For is in the Library by Michiko Aoyama

emotional hopeful lighthearted reflective medium-paced

4.0

This is so different from what I usually pick up, but it was the perfect choice for a New Year’s read! It is cozy, light, and very much wholesome, containing little nuggets of wisdom and encouragement for human connection. It’s not only a love story for libraries, it’s an ode to people who see you, who recognize what you may need, and believe in your potential to grow. Sure, it was a bit cheesy and a little after-school-special-y, but it was overwhelmingly delightful and made me think about the small ways I can make connections with others and learn new things. I also loved how all of the characters were linked in some way (very much reminded me of those romances that were popular a while ago, like Valentine’s Day, where everyone is somehow connected to everyone else), it was moving to see how everyone needed and learned from one another. I would definitely recommend this for warm fuzzy feelings and for a friendly push to do whatever it is that stirs your heart!
