They Cage the Animals at Night by Jennings Michael Burch

emotional reflective fast-paced

5.0

This book is the story of Jennings Michael Burch, who was abandoned and placed into the foster care system. It does not shock me in the least that he went through these horrific abusive experiences, because there are so many people who have shared stories like this. There are so many parents who have their biological children taken away simply because they treat them the same as is described in this book, or worse. I have seen some complaints about the writing style of this book, but the tone in which he spoke did not bother me. I thought this was a very insightful book into what life in the foster care system has been and could be like for many children. It is eye opening, for sure.
