I don't usually request children's books for review, but this one seemed so cute and useful I had to check it out. I tutor a few children in English and used it with them to see how they liked it. I'm pleased to report that they loved it! My students are non-native speakers, so they're a little bit older than the recommended age for the book, but that didn't seem to be a problem. We read through it together and I explained unfamiliar vocabulary and asked them about the pictures. The beautiful, simple illustrations and expansion activities made this book fun and interactive. It took us an hour to get through it (split into four 15-minute reading sessions over the course of one week). One of my students now specifically requests to read, when she previously preferred to (verbally) describe pictures or write a few vocabulary words. I've been using the momentum from All About Weather to guide her through a few Dr. Suess books, and we'll try Madeline next. I'm definitely keeping this one in my arsenal and recommending it to everyone!
