When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi
5.0
Autobiography’s are not the type of book I usually pick up but I kept hearing what a great book this was and it really is.
Kalanithi was a neurosurgeon who at the end of his training was diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer. The autobiography walks the reader through his life to becoming a successful physician, the books that shaped him and what kept him sane at the end of the road when his wife was expecting their first child together. The conclusion of the book was written by his wife as he passed away before finishing it, it’s at this point that I had tears in my eyes. Recommend for anyone who will value an unfiltered look at struggle and pain but also love and tenacity.
