Eden Undone: A True Story of Sex, Murder, and Utopia at the Dawn of World War II by Abbott Kahler
5.0
Gorgeous setting, check. True Story, check. Unhinged characters, check. This book was so compelling and entertaining. It was hard to imagine that this was a true story, it was so unhinged, and the people made no sense with what they did. Though, I will say the idea of escaping to a secluded island with just my husband and I does sound appealing at times, these individuals took it a step further and actually did it. I would be terrified! Yet they lasted quite some time. Of course, because it is a secluded volcanic island, some very interesting things happen until they meet their demise. And who knows what really happened in the end, that was a cliffhanger I didn’t see coming. The way the author weaved this story together was so fun and really kept me interested. I listened to the audio, and I did not want to stop, it was that good. This book does read more like a thriller than what it actually is, a true story full of action and adventure. I’m not sure I would call it true crime, but the truth is terrifying in this regard.
If you are looking for an engaging and unsettling true story, then this is the book for you!
