This was the perfect follow up to Unsteady. I am beyond grateful to have gotten to read this ARC.
I can’t get over how personally relatable Freddy was. The learning disability rep was excellent. As was the people pleasing tendencies from both characters. I deeply related to both their experiences of grief and I didn’t expect that going in to this book. It was a beautifully written book that expressed so much. Corrine's characters feel fleshed out and so real that when you put the book down, you feel as if you've said goodbye to a friend.
One of my favourite aspects of the story was how both Matt and Ro navigated their friendships. College (and any age really), is such a difficult time. Feeling unwanted is such a universal experience and Corinne depicted it with care and understanding.
The last thing I'll add, is that it was so refreshing to read a soft female character. Don't get me wrong, I love the badass, take-no-s*it FMC's but as a soft girl, it was so nice reading about another soft girl. I found Ro to be the perfect follow up to Sadie in this way.
I will be recommending this to everyone I know. I am not so patiently waiting to read Bennett’s story…
