Are Luc and Oliver the cutest couple since David and Patrick?
If only it wasn't a "fake relationship"!
It has taken me way too long to get around to Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall and I'm so glad I have now experienced it.
Luc O'Donnell is the son of famous musician/absent father Jon Fleming, and thus subject to scrutiny in the tabloids at every indiscretion. Of which there have been a few.
When his employment is in jeopardy due to his public image, he devises a plan to get an impressive boyfriend. Only for appearances, of course.
Along comes barrister Oliver Blackwood to fill the role. He's uptight, proper and uses words like "verisimilitude" and "intransigent" in casual conversation. (Contrasting to Luc who uses words such as "nitwititude" and "vibratey".)
To sum up, I adored this book. The characters are flawed and lovable, the dialogue is witty as hell and the entire writing style makes me wish I could write a rom-com. Literally every page is funny, even when events become emotional.
I can't recommend this book enough - read it!
