The Light Pirate by Lily Brooks-Dalton

4.0

I’ve had this one awhile and I was somewhat afraid to read it. Having lived through multiple hurricanes and currently trying to fathom and be with the effects of climate change, it felt like it would be somewhat of a horror read.

While it is an atmospheric, frightening dystopian look at what could be the way the United States deteriorates, it is also a connective, well written story of family, hope, resilience and redemption. I appreciated this very much and I’m grateful I took a chance on it now, despite the fact that we’re in Hurricane season and the record breaking flooding across the nation is absolutely terrifying.

Well worth the discomfort while reading. Despite the way it flows, it was both beautiful and stunning.
