My soul is downright traumatised but I loved every single minute of it 🤧

*adds to favourites*

But honestly, I—I don't even know where to begin...

Taking longer than usual to finish Children of Fallen Gods because of uni assignments 🥲 ANY and EVERY TIME I picked this book back up, I was immediately sucked back into the story. So damn good, I freaked myself out a number of times because of how well the descriptions were written HAHA

“Ishqa,” I whispered. “They’re in the—”
And that was when all of the eyes beneath the surface of the water — hundreds and hundreds of lifeless, disfigured fey faces — opened at once.

Beginning shortly after book one, Children of Fallen Gods follows Tisaanah as she completes her end of the blood pact she made with the Orders in exchange for their assistance to free the slaves in Threll. Sailing back to fight Ara's war, both Tisaanah and Reshaye start to sense another source of danger.

What are you looking at?
And then I felt it. The reaching hand. The overwhelming feeling of being watched.
{It is not what I see,} Reshaye whispered. {It is what sees us.}

New characters and a total of 3 POVS, I absolutely LOVEDAefe's character! 😍 Giving me a whole lot of Manon / Throne of Glass vibes, it was exciting and nerve-racking to read about the Fey and how the humans were affecting their world.

And plus, Aefe 💖 a Teirness of the House of Obsidian, the heir to the greatest power in the greatest house of all the Fey nations, whose people tattoo their stories onto their bodies...
*flips a fucking table*

That was, after all, the greatest punishment among the Sidnee: the erasure of a story, or worse, the potential for one.

On edge most of the time because I couldn't figure out the plot twistS (fucking plural!), or at least see the bigger picture in Children of Fallen Gods, the person who I did think was the villain... did turn out to be... but not for the reasons I thought they would be... and if anything, I totally understood them. Heck, I might even be on board with them! 😅

In the end, I loved Reshaye's character even more, frkn ate up Aefe's timeline, and in regards to how all their stories met... *cue the fucking tears* I could not hold it together. My emotions were everywhere lol

Really excited (and nervous) to read Mother of Death and Dawn next!

To end, here is an adorable language barrier scene that I thoroughly enjoyed 🥰

“You look like… a sleeping worm.”
“A sleeping worm?”
“The kind that makes silk. When they, you know…” She flailed her arms around herself, and I turned to stare flatly back at her.
“Was that intended to represent… a cocoon?”
“A cocoon. Exactly.”
“Ascended above, what a poet you are.”
She settled beside me, shooting me a glare. “Well, you tell me that in Thereni, and we’ll see if you’re a better one.”
