Really interesting reflection on religion, beliefs of the afterlife, how we conceive of hell, and how these conceptions drive our lives and relationships.
I think the most interesting part of this book is how the characters are given purpose (find the book that contains your life story) but this purpose is nearly so unattainable that it drives a sense of purposelessness. There is so much to be reflected upon in that.
For a short story (no pun intented), we are able to cover so much. I think in some ways I would like to see this as a larger book, but I also think the brevity underscores the despair and meaninglessness in a way a longer book could not. Really interesting.
