The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón

5.0

This is a rich novel, the kind that demands your full attention to soak in all the intricacies and details- because almost every plot-point holds significant meaning later in the story. “The Shadow of the Wind” begins with an ominous mystery that’s already curious enough, but then it gradually unveils a complex narrative spanning across many years and a host of fascinating characters. There’s a special thrill in the unraveling of all the mysteries throughout the book, and personally, I found the story’s resolution satisfying. The poetic flair in Zafón’s writing style is simply the cherry on top.

The drama will keep you steadily engaged. I paced through the book steadily in small chunks as I found time, but if you have an upcoming trip or the opportunity to binge-read, it will definitely keep you busy!
