Sea People: The Puzzle of Polynesia by Christina Thompson

2.0

T’was ok. I did get very fed up of the concentration on European explorers...I was more interested in the prehistory....and wanted more about the genetics, fossil records, more about the science in tracking past generations...sometimes I just felt there was scope for more depth in some aspects and less in others. But this was just a personal opinion. I think different people want different things from non fiction especially. I come from a view point of human evolution and migration so it didn’t work so well for me. I suppose I would have wanted a book that dealt with one aspect, say the fossil record...or genetics that delved deeply into that in the context of other aspects...rather than a more wide sweeping review of the story. So it was my fault for not realising this book was not what I thought it was.
