Heartless Hunter by Kristen Ciccarelli
5.0
Oh my my my this book was one of the best things I've read in a long time. I inhaled this one. I was honestly addicted at the start. I am pretty much in my witchy era these days and all the witchy reads bring me so much joy. I adored this book. It has a tough female character who isn't afraid to make hard decisions. It has the best friends who help her accomplish her task of saving witches. It has the witch hunter who is determined to catch her, and just so happens to be the perfect candidate for the ruse that Rune needs to act out. I think this book did a fantastic job of creating characters with backstories that really help to explain them as people and making you root for them... even when you didn't want to.
The romance element was a nice touch but honestly I loved the book so much I wouldn't have even cared about it. I enjoyed watching Rune present this persona to people but slowly she lets Gideon see the real her. I think it was brilliant to have them both playing the other one and slowly develop feelings for each other. The love triangle bit is a lot sad to be honest. The magic part is fascinating and I can't wait to see more... I mean Rune has really been holding back to avoid detection... so I can't wait to see her come into her power more. I imagine she is going to be capable of some pretty great things. The book really threw a plot twist in that just changes the game completely and I am dying to see how it plays out. I am pretty sure that this series will be my personality. I really am sad that I have to wait for the next book.
