A bit generic, sure, but also surprisingly solid? I quickly found myself getting invested in the world of Audace and the other Elves. We only really get to see two realms in this book (as Fantasy Kingdom consists of many, many different realms), but still they feel like real locations with actual lore and depth behind them. 

The main characters are also quite nice and likable, even if, again, a bit trope-y. 

So not a perfect book and also pretty simple by fantasy standards, but it had enough good going on to keep me invested.
