I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou
5.0
Having not read this for at least two decades there was a sweetness to the immersion into a familiar place and time. Sharpening my memory, marvelling at how Angelou articulates her childhood memories. With nuanced layers of how we think as children, act as children, I was entranced, again.
The abuse sequence is breathtaking, still. The opportunities and people in Angelou’s life, for however long, who had such a positive impact, how she acknowledges this, sublime.
