Bookshops & Bonedust by Travis Baldree
5.0
'“Every book is a little mirror, and sometimes you look into it and see someone else looking back.”'
This book has such a great vibe. Viv the orc is stuck in a quaint seaside town convalescing. She's counting down the days until she can rejoin her troop. In the meantime, there's sweet lassy buns to eat, a bookshop to renovate, and delightful characters to fall in love with. But it's not all deliciously descriptive food writing, found family, and cozy atmosphere with a powerful necromancer as the villain. I love this even more than Legends & Lattes.
'For a while, there was nothing but the hiss of the lantern and the weary, contented silence that follows in the wake of a day spent laboring with others.'
