I have nothing but good things to say about this book. The only small, infinitesimal caveat to that statement is that there were moments of what could be interpreted as borderline body shaming in here. But, the narrator didn't verbatim express an opinion about her assessment of the characters in question as "large," so I will let it slide (*side eye and "I'm watching you" hand gesture*). This is a book lover's book, without question. The premise is super intriguing - Swedish girl is pen pals with elderly American woman, exchanges books with her, comes to America to visit, SURPRISE, she's dead (this is not a spoiler, it's in the synopsis). The rest, as they say, is history. And what a super sweet, funny, romantic but so much more than just your run-of-the-mill romance novel romance, history it is. It will receive the highest praise that a book can get from me: it made me want to read more books. And write reviews. And open a bookstore. It actually tortured me to the point where I had to stop listening to it for a couple of hours because I had to cry about wanting to open a bookstore so bad. IT HURT SO GOOD. This one gets an easy 5 stars from me.
