This book started so strong with Luther really hitting me in the heart with his golden retreiver mode. He is trying to show Diem she is not alone at all but cannot express it right. It was full of action, banter, secrets, betrayals and my love for Sorae (Diem's gryvern) continues to grow.
My favorite chapter was 28 "not MY NAME!"

There is a song called “short stories with tragic endings” by from autumn to ashes and I kid you not, there was a good portion of Heat of the Everflame reminds me of that song

And the subtle way that they do these things and it hurts so much?
So much it's like choking down the embers of a great blaze”
