Reading this book felt so similar to reading Karla Cornejo Villavicencion’s Catalina. It’s raw, hypnotic, and frankly, you just have to give yourself over to the story without questioning the protagonist too much.
Though I struggle with books where I don’t connect with the characters, it was fascinating to see life through Nila’s eyes and to experience the Berlin of this book.
You’ll enjoy this book if you like character-driven narratives that tackle complex themes like love, lust, familial relationships, immigrant stories, and figuring out who you are and your place in the world.
