The Mercy of Gods by James S.A. Corey
4.0
[Audiobook version review]
Coming of the fast-paced, action-filled high that was the Expanse, Mercy of the Gods is a very different beast. If you expect political intrigue, space marines and space ships engaged in heart stopping battle, this might not be for you.
Mercy of the Gods is introspective. It explores various ways we respond to external events beyond our control, played out by characters that are used to having near everything under their control. Despite their seeming similarity, each responds to the events in their own way, thereby exploring the various themes that comes with a story of oppression, resistance and acceptance of one's situation.
Looking forward to the next one!
