What Happened by Hillary Rodham Clinton
5.0
Sexism is all the big and little ways that society draws a box around women and says, "You stay in there."
A very emotional book for me to read...both on my part and from Hillary's side. She's more open and less guarded than ever before. I loved reading this book from her, and though it made me sad of what could have been, I am so thankful that she's gotten her words down and out there. Hillary wrote this partly because it's really a catharsis for her entire experience, but also because—with the direction truth is headed in this country and the world, she felt it was important to get things down in her words and from her perspective.
I wish people could read this with an open mind and accept it for the eye-opening experience it truly is. Yes, there is a great deal in here from Hillary, personally, but also there is a great deal of facts. Facts that the media, during the election year, somehow neglected to report with the fervor it deserved.
Hillary's candor and humor is phenomenal here; she's so personable and well-spoken. In and out, up and down, I will always be sad and angry, and so utterly disappointed and disheartened, by the results of the 2016 election. However, there's an uplifting message to discover and experience, and hopefully one day we can all move ONWARD TOGETHER.
