Being fat myself, I appreciated the honesty of emotions that a girl who is bigger goes through to find self acceptance. I also appreciated how Willowdean doesn’t lose weight at the end to find happiness, like other “fat kid” movie and books I’ve seen.
There were definitely some frustrating parts for me, as I think Willowdean could be so caught up in herself that it takes her the whole book sometimes to see something from someone else’s point of view. Often, I didn’t side with her when I think I was supposed to because I thought she was being selfish or greedy.
But overall, I enjoyed the read and enjoyed getting lost in the world the author created.
