The Ancestor by Danielle Trussoni

4.0

When Alberta “Bert” Monte gets a strange letter addressed to Countess Alberta Montebianco, she finds that her family roots hide dark secrets. She finds that a relative she has never knew has died, leaving her a castle and a lot of money. Her life in New York City has been rough. Her and her husband’s relationship has been rocky. Maybe the invite to Italy will open some new doors for her.

But things quickly go awry when she gets to Italy. She’s flown out to the castle and quickly finds secrets waiting beyond each corner.

This book was not what I expected it to be, and I’m not mad about it. It’s a ride that hooks you from start to finish. I can guarantee you will not guess what direction this book will take.

Overall, I found the writing to be beautiful and compelling. I finished this book within four days because I didn’t want to put it down. I enjoyed unveiling family secrets with our main character. The snowy castle setting was perfect for this time of the year.
