How to Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell

5.0

Aw. This book was so much better than I thought it would be! Fun and entertaining, packed with all the dragons, silliness and adventure you could want. Now I’m not the readers demographic for this, I am a fully grown adult who just fancied reading a light hearted children’s book and it was exactly that for me.

It was one of those books that you don’t take to seriously but can just get absorbed into for a bit, and the next thing you know, you’ve become invested and you’re rooting for the main character (Hiccup). Before you know it, you’ve finished the book!

It was super easy to read and really would be perfect for any little reader. Although one thing to be aware of before going into this is that it’s nothing like the film whatsoever! They are completely different entities and none of what happens in the film features in the book. It has a whole different story (and one that I loved actually. Wouldn’t have minded the film following this pattern to be honest), so don’t go into this book thinking you know it because you’ve seen the film!

Now I’ve finished it, I totally want to read the rest of the series for a bit of nonsense dragon fighting Viking action.

No regrets,
Yours sincerely, an adult who couldn’t resist reading this children’s book.
