I will forever love Bridget Collins’ books as audiobooks & the narrators on this certainly didn’t disappoint.
A lot of people are calling this a fantasy though & I disagree. Montverre certainly invokes a mysterious & ambiguous atmosphere but the ‘game’ they play is surely more akin to a prayer/hymn. I guess it’s possible to read magic into it but it’s definitely not overt. Perhaps there’s some more context for this in the inspiration work cited but I haven’t read it.
Overall, I enjoyed the experience but wasn’t as captivated as I was for the Binding which is a pity.
