A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson
5.0
I was so beyond excited to be a part of the Team Tandem Listenalong this month for A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson.
I’ve owned this book for a while but always been put off from reading it in case the hype wasn’t deserved, but O…M…G. This book shocked me, gripped me, entranced me, made me shout, laugh, and cry all at once. I’ve never had that from a YA before. Especially not a murder mystery novel.
The story took so many unexpected turns and kept me guessing right from the beginning what happened and who was responsible. Every time we thought we’d found a new lead, more suspects popped up and made me suspicious of everyone.
I loved creating my own murder board along the way and found it such a thrilling experience. The story was so well thought out I’m honestly amazed it is a young adult novel. It just goes to show the lengths people will go to to save themselves or those they seem to care about.
The Audiobook narrators did a fantastic job with this book and I loved listening to it alongside reading the physical paperback of this book. I’ve already gone out and purchased a copy of the audiobooks for Good Girl, Bad Blood and As Good As Dead so I can do the same thing and have the full, immersive experience of these books.
CONTENT WARNING: Murder, Death, Blood, Vomit, Drug, Drug Use, Alcohol, Alcohol Use, Infidelity, Injury Detail, Rape, Sexual Assault, Death of an Animal, Confinement, Domestic Abuse, Xenophobia, Racism, Mild Cursing
